About the programme
Software developers work on the design and development of complex IT systems. You will have broad knowledge of development and design, but you will also be capable of programming and developing a specific solution.
As a software developer, you will be able to design and develop large, data-intensive systems. You will have knowledge of databases and distributed systems as a means to resolving complex business tasks that involve large volumes of data. You will also be able to program those solutions yourself.
Compared to a graduate of computer science, you will have a broader knowledge of development methods and the theories behind them. You will be able to work with different kinds of methods and solutions, and you will be able to argue for and against them, depending on the available options. For those reasons, software developers are better prepared to enter professional dialogues with people from other disciplines.
Professional profile
Software developers work on the design, development, and testing of complex IT systems. Usually, you will focus on the back-end and large, data-intensive systems such as distributed systems and databases. You will be able to work on continuous integration and deployment, software architecture, and IT security. In addition, you are analytically and technically skilled and can participate in IT projects and optimise development processes.
You could do software work in Denmark or internationally. Graduates of software development typically go for jobs as systems developers, software architects, and project managers on large-scale IT projects in Denmark or abroad.
Depending on your profile and your interests, you may work as one of the following after your graduation:
- Software developer
- Software architect
- IT consultant
- Lead developer
- Database specialist
