About the programme

The degree programme in nursing covers education in the care and treatment of patients with a view to enabling them to manage everyday life

The main subject in the programme is nursing where students learn to communicate with patients and relatives and how to handle emotions and situations of joy, hope, sorrow, anxiety and pain. Other subjects are physiology, biochemistry, psychology, research methodology, public health and management strategy as well as working across disciplines.

Throughout the programme the students will combine theory with practice and make observations, reflections and interventions.

We combine academic skills with practical experience and offer applied academic learning and a real life approach. The scientific basis for the programme is nursing, health, social and natural sciences as well as humanities. The learning and teaching strategies in our department include lectures, discussions, seminars, reflections, group work and project writing. Furthermore, we make extensive use of our fully equipped skills lab throughout the programme.

Who can apply for exchange?

We receive exchange students from the Erasmus+ and Nordplus programmes as well as from partner universities for short periods of clinical placement. Exchange students should expect to communicate in English. Nordic languages can be used.

Where will the clinical placement take place?

Exchange students will have a great possibility to study in the municipalities of the North Denmark Region. Furthermore, our department collaborates with all mental and somatic hospitals in the region. In general the clinical counsellors in Denmark are well trained. We have a long tradition for close collaboration between students and counsellors. During the clinical training there will be reflections based on exercises as well as in connection with the clinical nursing tasks.
