The programme elements

The Multimedia design programme contains four national programme elements in the first study year and four local programme elements, plus internship and final degree project in the second study year.

The programme elements at Multimedia design are organised in cross-disciplinary courses within five subject areas: user interface development, user experiences, content production, business and technology

The programme is a full-time study corresponding to two student years, equivalent to 120 ECTS. A student year is a full-time student’s work for a year and corresponds to 60 points in European Credit Transfer System (ECTS-point).

The programme structure

1ST SEMESTER (30 ECTS)

  • Design and programming of digital user interfaces 1 (15 ECTS)
  • Design and programming of digital content 1 (15 ECTS)

2ND SEMESTER (30 ECTS)

  • Design and programming of digital user interfaces 2 (15 ECTS)
  • Design and programming of digital content 2 (15 ECTS)

3RD SEMESTER (30 ECTS)

  • User interface development and technology (10 ECTS)
  • Business and content production (5 ECTS)
  • User experiences and technology (5 ECTS)
  • Elective (10 ECTS)

During the 3rd semester you must choose between two elective components. Both electives are offered in English.

4TH SEMESTER (30 ECTS)

  • Internship (15 ECTS)
  • Final degree project (15 ECTS)

The subject-related content of the programme

At Multimedia design you will be taught several subjects with content from the five subject areas of the programme.

User interface development

Design and development of digital solutions with special emphasis on the production of user interfaces. Interface design, digital design, usability, frontend (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Vue.js). development methods.

User experiences

Design and development of digital experiences with a focus on understanding the user and the user’s interaction with solutions. User understanding, qualitative method, UXD, user centred method, user test.

Content production

Content production for selected digital media. Media understanding, information architecture, CMS, design tools, semiotics, visual communication.

Business

Business understanding, project management, SEO/Analytics, the multimedia designer’s role in the value chain, strategy and time estimation.

Technology

Understanding and exploration of technologies that form part of the production of digital user interfaces.
