The objective of the Bachelor of Education programme is to train teachers for the primary and lower secondary school system
The Bachelor of Education programme is a 4 year bachelor degree programme corresponding to 240 ECTS credits in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS credits).
The objective of the Bachelor of Education programme is to train teachers for the primary and lower secondary school system (children aged between 5 and 16) and to provide students with a basis for continued professional development.
The programme comprises the following four main elements:
- The teacher’s foundational competences (60 ECTS points)
- Main teaching subjects (130 ECTS points)
- Teaching practice (30 ECTS points)
- Bachelor of Education project (20 ECTS points)
Modules and ECTS
The programme is divided into modules of 10 ECTS.
The main objective of the teaching practice is to strengthen the student’s understanding of and ability to link theory and practice, and for the student to acquire theoretically based practical skills for the purpose of planning, implementing, evaluating and developing their teaching.
The teaching practice also aims to develop the student’s proficiency to interact with parents, teachers and other co-workers.
During the teaching practice, the student teaches children (age group 5-16 years old) and participates in other teacher tasks at a primary and lower secondary school, a private school or at a continuation school, under the guidance of one or more experienced teachers.
The teaching practice is organized according to three progressively advanced competence objectives that each is divided into the following areas of competence:
- Class management
- Relations and cooperation
Students can do their teaching practice in placement schools abroad.
