Transfer and re-admission/re-registration

Here you can learn more about the rules governing transfers from other higher education institutions, re-admission and re-registration

Transfer by admission or registration

You can apply for transfer to a UCN programme if you are in an equivalent study programme with another educational institution or education provider.

If you have not yet passed the first year of study, you must apply for transfer through the national admission portal at www.optagelse.dk. You must satisfy the programme's admission requirements, including any minimum grade requirements.

If you have already passed your first year of study in a programme that is organised the same way as the UCN programme is, you can apply for transfer by registration. If you are in the social education programme, you must at least have completed fundamental social education competencies. You must meet the admission requirements for the study programme, including any minimum grade requirements, and the study programme must have an available place to give you.

Passed exams cannot be resat unless they have expired according to study programme regulations. Used exam attempts will be transferred with the new admission/registration.

The ministerial order for the particular study programme will state the time when a programme must have been successfully completed at the latest. You must be able to complete the programme within the stated latest date of completion, which will be determined on the basis of the first time you were registered (enrolled) on the programme.

Re-admission / re-registration

You can apply for re-admission / re-registration if you were previously a student in the programme either with UCN or with another higher education institution that also provides that particular programme.

If you have not passed the first year of study of the programme as it is currently laid out by UCN, you must apply for re-admission through the admission portal www.optagelse.dk. You must satisfy the programme's admission requirements, including any minimum grade requirements.

If you have passed the first year of study as it is currently laid out by UCN, you can apply for re-registration. If you are in the social education programme, you must at least have completed fundamental social education competencies. You must meet the admission requirements for the study programme, including any minimum grade requirements, and the study programme must have an available place to give you.

The ministerial order for the particular study programme will state the time when a programme must have been successfully completed at the latest. You must be able to complete the programme within the stated latest date of completion, which will be determined on the basis of the first time you were registered (enrolled) on the programme.

If your prior enrolment in the programme was interrupted because you were de-registered as a student by your educational institution, you will only be considered for a study place if our study programme finds – based on a statement from you backed with documentary evidence – that your chances of successfully completing the programme have increased significantly. The programme's findings may involve for instance academic and health-related facts. This also applies if your previous educational institution could have de-registered you, but you withdrew voluntarily before they could do so.

Re-admission or re-enrolment cannot take place earlier than five months after you were de-registered or withdrew from a programme.

Re-enrolment usually takes place at the start of a semester, and for that reason, we must have received your application by 15 April if study start is in the next autumn semester, or by 1 November if study start is in the next spring semester.

Documentary evidence

You must enclose documentary evidence to prove that you satisfy the admission requirements for the particular programme.

If you are or if you have been enrolled in the same programme with a different educational institution, you must enclose a copy of your student record.

You must inform about and enclose documentary evidence of any work experience and passed or completed educational elements from all prior Danish and foreign education periods that are at the same or higher level of education than the programme to which you are applying for admission.

Consent to allow collection of information

If you are, or were previously, registered (enrolled) with a different higher education institution, we kindly ask you to give your consent to allow UCN to collect information about passed subjects, the number of used examination attempts for failed subjects, statements from previously completed or interrupted internship periods, enrolment periods and other information that is relevant to our processing of your application. If you do not give us your consent, UCN will have to reject your application.

How to apply

If you did not pass the first year of study, your application for transfer or re-registration must be submitted through the national admission portal www.optagelse.dk.

If you DID pass the first year of study, please download and fill in the transfer and re-enrolment application form (PDF). Before you fill in the form, please make sure to save the file on your computer. You should not only have it open in your browser. You may lose the data you have entered. So, save the file first (on your desktop, for example), fill it in and save it again.

Log into your e-boks and follow these instructions for sending e-mail safely through e-boks (PDF) and send us your application.

Also remember to enclose any relevant documentary evidence – see above.

You should expect an answer to your application up to four weeks before semester- or study start.
